Buddyfight World Finals Top 8 decklists

Hey Buddyfighters! The most extravagant event of the year has concluded recently and we have managed to obtain the top 8 decklists and most side decks for the event!



First up we have the Champion, Sean From Sinagpore! His first time playing at worlds and he managed to become the champion. This shows how much talent he has in the game!

In Second place we have Cameron from USA! Another first time player at worlds. so close to becoming the champion, Cameron managed to prove why Dimension Dragons are tier 1 in this game! A great feat regardless!

In Third place we have the Japan National champion, Simon! Kudos to him for adapting to the english format in just one day and still being able to get 3rd place! Truly a great honor for everyone to have such a skilled player join us.

4th Place we have Andrew Phua from Singapore! The famous Dr3gonking on youtube. He has been to worlds multiple times and is a highly skilled player.

and in no particular order,here are the remaining lists!

Nicole Taran from USA! What? A female player?! and one that is good?! Nicole was not just the only female player, but she was also the only female Idol Master player in the whole event! Breaking the stereotypes right there!

Krishiv Desai from the Europe! Another you-tuber by the name of Aibo Academy. A very talented player from the Eu region. Check out his channel for some neat content!

Vishal Dharshan(Avengingknight) from Sinagpore! Our very own author of this blog. Not going have self praise ^_^

Lastly we have Panos from Europe! The 2016 World champion! Coming back in the top 8 again proves his skill are legit and his win was not a fluke. He was also the only Prism player who did not go into time during swiss! A great feat!

World Finals Meta Analysis

Hello Buddyfighters! We re now approaching the most anticipated tournament of the year and that is the BCS world finals. Players around the globe have fought hard and earned their invites to the finals. One of our own member is also participating in the world finals this year as well. We decided that a Meta analysis would help some players better decide what to play for the biggest tournament of the year! We will be discussing the key strengths and weakness of each decks below.

1. Dimension Dragons



The deck that won the 2018 championship and its still one of the best decks to play. A deck to be tier 1 for over a year is something that rarely happens in any card games. Dimension Dragons have proven to be tier 1 by topping many regionals across the world.

Strengths

- Extremely consistent

- Able to abuse Lost world's powers

- Easy to pilot

- No difficult match ups

Weakness

- Lost world reliant and cant do anything in main deck other than defend

- Prone to gauge steal effects

- Can be crippled by spell nulls and ability nulls

- Heavy field presence reliance

2. Triple Buddy

The Triple Buddy is the latest mechanic in the game. This deck is able to Buddy call multiple times gaining massive life. They also have spells which give immense control while you have the Buddy on the field.

Strengths

- Massive life gain from multiple Buddy call

- Huge control power from spells

- Inbuilt immunity to destruction and bounce effects

- Easy recovery from field wipe 

- Prevents re standing of cards  

Weakness 

- Can be inconsistent when drawing the pieces

- Gets countered by anti rest and anti ability null 

- loses to cards that send them to drop like Epoch destroyer

3. Prism Dragons

Prism Dragons received a huge amount of support this season and that made them one of the most powerful deck in the game. With access to cards like Eternity Ring which is in the watchlist for getting banned, Prism dragons have the absolute defense that no other decks have in the game. However, there a few glaring weakness for the deck currently in the meta. 

Strengths

- Absolute defense 

- Guaranteed survival with overturn 

- Immune to effect damage and destruction effects 

- Easy turbo to lost world 

Weakness

- Inconsistent some times 

- Extremely susceptible to resting effects 

- Will run out of steam if opponent is able to survive by resting Athora every turn 

- Heavy reliance on Lost world for some match ups

- No offense if Eternity Ring is dropped from soul

4. Roselia 

Roselia is the only deck as of now that can call 5 monsters on the field. Each of the five units give them a specific immunity and offense which counters the entire meta. The high consistency rate of this deck and access to powerful spells allows them to stay on top the meta for a long time. 

Strengths

- Extremely consistent 

- Very high offense

- Has impact that gives them extra attack phase

- straightforward game plan

- Overall not weak to many things that are common in the meta

Weakness

- Weak to Burn damage 

- cant stop Athora's overturn

- Weak to cards that rearrange their field

- Weak to Buddyblock and redirectors combo

5. Case closed

 

Conan was the first ever Crossover deck to be introduced and has been overlooked by many. The deck can only shine in the hands of the right player and has the potential to win the entire tournament if played right. With so much counter calling during both turns, they can easily empty the opponent's board during their turn and effectively end their turn. 

Strengths 

- Can cripple the opponent during their turn  

- Very huge draw power that can be used during both turns 

- Very high amount of control cards 

- Multiple calling which escapes resting cards

- High life gain 

Weakness

- Very weak to cards that prevent bounce for both players 

- Cards that give destruction and bounce immunity to whole field is a huge problem 

- Multiple Loyalties can slow down the deck by a huge amount. 

- No deck replenishing ability to keep up with the draw power

- Jackknife 

- Folktales 

- Gboost Will

These deck are by no means bad but we do not expect a high representation from them. The decks we mentioned are the ones which you will see played the most.

What defines a great player?

Hello Buddyfighters, today we are here bringing you a slightly different kind of article. We will be discussing some of the traits and characteristics of a good player. These traits are not based on their skill level in the game but as a human being. Without further ado lets begin!

"A great player is not the one who wins his games, but is the one who wins his opponent's respect". 

The first and most controversial topic is sportsmanship. In our opinion, a player who wins by Rulesharking or disrespecting their opponents should never be proud of their achievements. Even if you have lost in a very terrible manner such as bad draws or to top draws, be a good sport and offer a handshake and say good game to your opponent. We can assure you the opponent will subconsciously have developed respect for you as a player when you do that. Rulesharking is another way a player can lose all the respect they have. Rulesharking to win is the same as cheating and it shows that your are the most desperate and worst kind of player. If you are really as good as you think you are, you should have confidence in your abilities and not resort to Rulesharking. Examples of Rulesharking can be things like not allowing minor replays that does not affect the game state or things like calling judge for not resting their Buddy when Buddy calling. If you want respect, you must prove that you deserve it.

Second trait is adapting. There have been many cases where a players quits the game because the meta has become stale or the game is lacking skills. Well, if you look at the winners so far in BCS, most of them are repetitive winners and that shows that the game still requires skill. Quitting the game because your favorite deck lacks support or because the game is lacking skills just shows that you are unable to accept changes.  A good player will continue to prove himself that he is good regardless of how "bad" the meta is.

The third trait is to not have a high ego level. We have come across players who top once in an event and start to act as though they are the best player in the world. They refuse to take any positive criticism from others and refuse to accept suggestions from others. This causes them to continuously lose and they start to blame the meta for being bad and that the game takes no skill. But the truth of the matter is that they cant bring themselves to accept ideas that are different from theirs. A good player will always have intense discussions and brainstorming with his trusted friends to improve himself.

The fourth trait is being secretive. This is a common trait among many less successful players. Remember the quote "Practice makes perfect"? Some players will think of a new strategy or card and will refuse to reveal it untill the day of the tournament and will realize it does not actually work as well as they thought it would. This is because they were so secretive that they did not have enough testing with people and that resulted in their downfall. A great player will always have a small group of friends whom he tests his decks with and together they can improve as a team. We have gotten great success in our Buddyfight careers when we started sharing our decklists with each other for suggestions.

The last trait is to impart your knowledge to new players. This will immediately make new players look up to you as a person. We as Buddyfighters must grow the community together. By giving advise to new players, we ourselves can learn new things sometimes. A great player will be proud when the player he taught becomes a champion one day. When you become a decent player, stay humble and help others. remember, you also started as a new player and worked your way up. People who helps others tend to be respected more in the community.

With that we can conclude by saying that respecting others and staying humble is more important than actually being good at the game. you can have 20 achievements, but if none of them reflects respect then its the same as not having any. You want to be known as the great player who won many events and be remembered as a player who has impacted many in this game .
