Buddyfight Malaysia and Australia Autumn circuit results

Hey Buddyfighters! Today we bring you a double post with both the Malaysian and Australian Autumn Circuit results. As we can see from the below lists, Black Dragons have dominated atleast 2 out of the top 3 spots in both the tournaments. With cards such as Ganmaru, Zem Seven and Elgod, Black Dragons can control the game according to their will. With such high amounts of control, they managed to take 1st place in Malaysia.  However, Australia's Champion managed to fend off the heavy control aspect of Black Dragons using his almighty Thunder Empire and bought glory to Batzz and his army! Below are the top 3 deck lists of both the tournaments!

Malaysia Champion

Malaysia runner up

Malaysia 2nd runner up

Australian Champion

Australian runner up

Australian 2nd runner up

Building the "Perfect" deck

Hey Buddyfighters, We are here today bringing you an article about deck building.

When the words "deck" and "building" are seen together, the first thing that should come into your mind is consistency. A good deck has to be consistent regardless of the game plan. When you are planning to build a deck for regionals or a big event, you have to make sure your deck can perform well in all the round if you want to make it all the way. Lets look at some key factors to consider when building a deck and making it consistent.

1) Draw power
2) Toolboxing
3) Is it a mono strategy?
4) Defensive capability
5) Offensive capability

Draw power is an absolute necessity in every deck as drawing into your key cards are very important if you are aiming to consistently win every round. It is advisable to have atleast two different cards that gives you draw for a very low cost.

Toolboxing is basically having the ability to search your deck for your key cards. Especially important if you are running One Turn kill decks that require combo pieces. If you wish to make your deck consistent, then you should always run cards that searches your deck for your key cards at 4. By maxing out cards that search your deck, you can run less inconsistent cards in your deck and you will have lesser chance to draw cards that will get stuck in your hand.

Does your deck rely on a single way to win or does it have multiple ways? It is never advisable to build a deck that relies on a single strategy as if you were to get matched up against a deck that unintentionally counters your deck then you are going to have a hard time. For example, if you choose to play Shadowshades which rely on a center monster and you get matched up against Black dragons which has the ability to rest your monster then you  are basically in a loosing end.  It is key to have a deck build with multiple Boss monsters. And if all your Boss monsters focus on the same strategy then you should play cards that counters your counters which comes under "Tech" cards which we will be discussing in another article.

Next is having enough defensive capability. Shields are not the only defensive cards when it comes to Buddyfight. A defensive card can be in many shapes and forms. Like calling a monster via the Ambush ability is considered as a defensive capability. A deck must be able to defend without losing cards. What that means is that, the cards you play to defend must be able to defend without reducing your hand size. For example, Oni Assasins defend by using the ambush ability and Chaos defends by using the Chaos Drain ability. Both of which do not use up hand size. Thunder empire deck has arc dragon shields which draws back the card used for defending effectively making them free.

Lastly is the offensive capability of the deck. In the current Meta, any deck that you build must be able to do an average of 15 damage in one battle phase with multiple attacks. There is no point in having immense draw and search power when you cant deal the damage required to win. And another thing to consider is to have "Cheap" damage such as Overturn which give you additional 10 damage most of the time for a very low cost. In a format where almost every deck can perform One turn kills with ease, its important to have your deck built in a way that it can keep up with them.

In conclusion, Consistency is always the key to winning in any match. It is important to practice your deck untill you have mastered it and to a point where you wont do any missplays.

"Im more afraid of a Buddyfighter who has played 1 deck a 100 times rather than a Buddyfighter who has played 100 decks 1 time."- Buddyformula

Bushiroad Championship Series Autum Circuit - Phillipines Buddyfight Top 3 Decklists

Hello Buddyfighters! The qualifiers the Philippines wrapped up and we were able to get the top 3 decklists!  The total player count of this tournament was 63 and a deck no one would have ever expected made it to the position of Champion for this tournament.  That deck was none other then Professor Menjo the deck!  This is a very impressive feat as although the deck does have power plays there are a ton of other decks that can annihilate the competition in a single turn or out-resource the Menjo deck so being able to get 1st place at a BCS tournament is very impressive.  We have also seen the rise of a deck that is very popular over in japan which is a mix of EDD support (mainly gaen) with black dragons to create a very strong control deck which got 3rd place!  Only time will tell if the rise of this new deck which can be referred to as Abygaen is just a craze or if it is actually the next big meta deck!  Not forgetting second place we got Neo Zwei which continues to show its prevalence.  Now for what you guys truly came to see; here are the top 3 decklists!

Preparing for your Bushiroad Champiosnhip Series!

Hello Buddyfighters!  As everyone knows the Bushiroad World Championship series Autum Circuit has just started. Today we are here to help all of you fellow players prepare for the long stretch of Tournaments that will be happening throughout Autum.  It is important to keep in mind that all players do have their own strategies and methods for dealing with and preparing for these events but these are methods and strategies that the members of BuddyFormula found to help the most!

Before we start off, lets have some fun and find out what type of player you are by using the famous Timmy,Johnny and Spike method.

Are you a person who loves to play big spells like great Spell Ragnarok or big monsters like Duel Sieger Tempest Enforcer? Then you are a Timmy. you love to use big cards to completely dominate your opponents during the match. you are the type of person who wont mind loosing often but when you win you win with a bang!

If you love to see people's jaw drop due to your creativity then you are a Johnny. you love to create decks or use cards that nobody uses. you prefer to win with style. you are a type of person who loves to have fun and only would want to win with something unique.

Lastly we have Spike. This Article is going to be very useful for the Spikes as you guys are the people who play only to win. you priorities winning more than anything. you will only play what is meta and even copy decks online so that you can win.

Now that you have found out the type of player you are lets get on with the article.

-  Avoid picking decks within the last week of an event because you want to have a good amount of time to playtest with the deck and learn as much about it as you possibly can. Always choose a deck that you feel comfortable with. Choose about 5 decks that you feel will be the most powerful and test with those. Narrow down to the best among those and master it.

-Do not get influenced by others. Just because a deck is winning alot in your locals does not mean it is the best deck. If everyone else is playing a certain card and you feel its not good then play something else that you feel is better. What works for one player may not work for another.

-  Go into the event with your goals and ambitions in mind that way you can strive to achieve those goals and ambitions. You have to have the right mindset. The moment you loose hope on yourself or your deck, you have lost half the battle.

-  Be sure to get a good amount of sleep and eat a well balanced breakfast that way you will not be easily drained of stamina throughout the day as these are long tournaments that take their tolls on the players. Fatigue can be a huge problem that will make you do the wrong plays during the match. Staying up all night to test your decks is not the way to go. you need to be clear of any distractions or fatigue if you want to fully concentrate on your matches.

-  Never be afraid to ask for advice or answers if you are unsure on any matters as asking questions is one of the best ways to learn. It take two hands to clap. Find a small group of friends whom you can trust and they will help you achieve the impossible. Instead of keeping any secret strategy you think is good, play test it with your friends. Thats the only way you will know if your secret strategy is actually good or not.

- Write your decklist the night before. Early preparation is always better. you can be stress free the next morning and be more focused.

-Finally, make sure you go there with no hard feelings and have good sportsmanship.

We hope this article has been fruitful to you guys. Be sure to follow us on facebook for the upcoming Autum circuit decklists and card of the day updates.

Bushiroad Championship Series - Spring Circuit Review

Hello Buddyfighters!  Over the last 4 months we have had numerous Buddyfight tournaments across the world held by Bushiroad where the winners of these tournaments and the winners of all the tournaments in the fall series will meet in Japan to play for the World Championship Title.  With the tournament series spanning over a large time span such as this participants have had to prepare for the meta that they were in.

For the first month or so the most recent booster set to be released was Dragon Fighters which concluded the Buddyfight Triple D sets and had support for all worlds as well as the 3 evolved dragon forces.  Many decks received a large amount of support from this set but a couple decks became the top of the meta from this set.  For instance a deck that claimed at least one top 8 spot in just about every regional tournament during the Dragon Fighters meta was the Dragon Chief Emperor deck that had based itself around "Pinnacle of Martial Arts, Duel Jaeger "God Vortoise"".  The deck was based around quickly calling this Duel Jaeger form so the deck would have a wall that most decks in the current meta would have a hard time dealing with since it couldn't have its soul removed or be rested and also had support cards that when in the soul that would prevent the colossal titan from being destroyed by monster effects or give gauge once per turn when Vortoise would attack.  The deck had many methods of protecting the card and used this to its advantage by stopping your opponent from doing as they pleased and gaining more and more advantage until the opponent couldn't stop it.  Another deck that began growing in popularity in the competitive scene was the Legend World Variant of Zodiac.  This variant of zodiac got more popular due to receiving a new weapon that helped with the decks gauge issues as well as a second form that was good for dealing with many decks in the competitive scene.  The deck already had the consistency it needed to be a competitive deck but by fixing the issues of a lack of gauge and adding a new form the deck got everything it needed to play on an even level with most of the competition at the time.  The deck wasn't super popular in the competitive scene but was a very good deck to use at the time.  There were a bunch of other decks that were wildly popular when it came to the competitive scene such as Style of Justice based decks in Star Dragon World, Fifth Omni and Sun Dragons based around Style of Impact for Dragon World, Neo Zwei and many others.  To finish the recap on the Dragon Fighters meta the last deck that could even be crowned the best deck of the meta and must be mentioned are the Searing Executioners.  This deck was always hitting top tables during the Dragon Fighter's meta and even dominated an entire top 8 at one regional tournament.  The deck was astoundingly overwhelming and had tons of methods for generating advantage.  The deck was extremely powerful and stayed this way going forward.

The next meta was a lot simpler as it primarily revolved around 4 decks that constantly made top tables.  Three of these decks were released in the newest set of this meta which was X-BT01 the Dark Lord's Rebirth.  These 4 decks that dominated the tournament scene would include the upgraded version of Dragon Chief Emperors with stronger consistency and more power plays, the all new Thunder Empire which is a fancy rush deck that is based on getting 3 or more attacks per turn for benefits and their main monster is Demon Lord Dragon, Batzz , the all new Prism Dragons which were based on sitting on their main wall monster Quintessence Crystal Dragon, Athora, and then the most dominant deck of this meta which were the newly introduced Oni Assassins.  All 4 of these decks were almost guaranteed to be seen in top 8 but the deck that won all of the regional tournaments but one was the Oni Assassin deck.  The reason this deck was so dominant was that it had answers to all of the other decks and had extreme field control.  It had good matchups against almost every relevant deck in the game with the exception of Prism Dragons.  Prism Dragons acted as a counter to Oni Assassins because of the fact that Athora cannot be destroyed by card effects and this gives Oni Assassins a problem as field control through destruction is how they generate most of their advantage.

After going through the Dark Lord's Rebirth and Dragon Fighters meta only two tournaments remained in Springfest and both of these regional qualifiers would take place during the Crossing Generations Meta.  The meta remained mostly the same with Thunder Empire and Prism Dragons getting more powerful but a deck that climbed back to tier one would be the Neo Zwei deck that first debuted during the 2016 WCQ series.  The deck became extremely powerful with the release of some dragonarms and an all new Dimenzion known as "Too Over-Dimensional Dragon, Dimenzion".  This new card has a terrifying ability which can give it triple attack for one turn which is more than enough for the deck to deal with many threats and allows it to dominate in any game where the opposition lacks the defense for its barrage of attacks.  The last two tournaments in the spring circuit recently occurred with Oni Assassins winning the 1st event and the 2nd event had 3 of the top 8 spots taken by Neo Zwei as well as having Neo Zwei taking 1st and 3rd place.  It is realistic to say that Neo Zwei has become one of the best decks in the game again with the most recent additions and the decks that were relevant before this set stayed relatively the same when it comes to how viable the decks are on a competitive standpoint.

As the game has evolved and the meta has changed so do the decks we consider to be the best and many changes occurred thanks to the implementation of the Buddyfight X decks so let us look at the last tier list we believe to hold true before Spring Circuit ended.

BEWARE THIS TIER LIST IS FOR CROSSING GENERATIONS AND DOES NOT HOLD TRUE TO TODAY'S META!!!!

Tier 1:
Neo Zwei

Tier 1.5

Time to upgrade this world!

Hey Buddyfighters, It been super long since our last article but we are back here with the latest Chaos deck that was born from the latest set, Chaos Control Crisis!

So whats so unique about this archetype? The character named Wisdom used this deck to beat the almighty Gao Mikado in the anime. The deck features size 30 monsters in the form of Geargods which have very powerful abilities to go along with their massive size. Lets take a look at the flag below.
card

Like Dragon Ein, "The Chaos" starts with 4 cards in hand but in exchange it allows you to call monster of size upto 99! It also prevents all your size 30 or greater monster from being destroyed by card effects or have their abilities nullified. this is the first time a flag has an added effect other than telling you how many hand, gauge or life you start with. The effect of this flag immediately shuts down many popular decks such as Fifth Omnis, Style of justice Jack and 72 Pillars. Every monster in the deck is a size 3 or size 30 as of now and this prevents alot of cards from being used against the deck. for example, Fifth Omnis wont be able to use their very infamous Dragodesperate against any of your monsters.

The main boss card of the deck is Ruler of Chaos, Geargod VII!

Image result for ruler of chaos gear god vii

Its a size 30 monster that has a very unique skill exclusive to Geargods. That is the "Chaos Territory", Which allows you to have an additional monster in the center along side the Geargods. This allows you to build a massive push against the opponent as they will have to deal with one additional monster's attack every turn. There a alot of cards that have double and one with even triple attack which makes having 4 monster on board very deadly.  The next signature ability is the "Chaos Drain" which lets your Geargod remain on the field by sacrificing a size 3 or lower Chaos monster. this is particularly powerful in this deck due to the fact that your flag protects the Geargods from being destroyed by card effects. So effectively, your opponent has to clear the entire field by attacking if he/she wants to to even touch your life points. This can prove to be very difficult for many decks. The final ability of this card is its ability to call any Chaos monster without paying the call cost during the start of the battle phase. This is a very powerful ability as you are guaranteed a sacrifice for the Chaos Drain ability and you are able to use cards such as "Chaos Darryl Berck" and "Chaos Osiris" which both have once per turn abilities. So you will be able to use their abilities to add cards to your hand during the opponent's turn.

Geargod VII combos best with "Chaos Adil Diablos". By not paying the call cost of Adil Diablos, you will not get any soul and you can use Adil Diablos to its fullest right of the bat. The deck also comes with a very good control card, "Chaos Tartaros" which has an ability to destroy any monster at counter timing simply by discarding a card. It also has a very efficient cost of just one gauge along with a soul!
Image result for chaos tartaros buddyfightImage result for chaos adil diablos

The most prominent spell card in the deck is "A ruler's privilege".

Image result for a ruler's privilege

An extremely powerful utility card that allows you to either restand a Chaos monster or return any card from the drop zone for no cost. This is an extremely powerful skill for a card with almost no cost as it basically turns into outs to almost any situation. You can return your draw spells, shields, attackers or even Geargods if needed. The restanding ability is also very useful i the current Meta as almost every decks have cards that rest your monsters. Restanding an Adil Diblos and attacking 3 times can cause alot of trouble especially when their resting card was their only out to Adil Diablos. The rest of the spells are nothing unique. you have your Geargod searcher, Blue dragon shield and Nice one equivalents.

the finisher of this deck is the impact called "Forced Global Shutdown"

card

This is very reminiscing of the impact that was played in Kaizerion decks in the past.  At the simple cost of 2 guage, it can deal 5 or more damage to your opponent. It does not require an open center like most impacts from Dragon world require however it can be reduced which maybe a concern due to the rise in popularity of Black Dragons which runs "Black Dragon Shield".

That concludes the basics of the new Chaos deck. Let us know what you think about this article and feel free to provide any suggestions. Buddyformula's team will do our best to write more interesting article and provide more decklists for you guys!

BCS Newark, New Jersey

Hello Buddyfighters!  June 4 was the Buddyfight Regional Championship for Newark, New Jersey in the United States!  With this most recent event top 8 consisted of quite an array of decks with the top looking like this:

1 - Hero World Zetta
1 - Ancient World Duel Jaeger
1 - Katana World Oni Assassin
2 - Katana World Ninjas
3 - Dragon World Thunder Empire

It came as a major shock to most of the players that there were no prism dragon decks in the top 8 and that not only one but two ninja decks made it to the top 8 in this high level meta.  Oni Assassins which were very strong with their release have become less dominant in recent tournaments although the meta hasn't changed which is interesting but they still wormed their way into top 8 being undefeated over 7 rounds of swiss only to have Duel Jaeger also make it through 7 rounds of swiss undefeated.  By the time Top 4 started the remaining decks were 2 ninja decks, 1 thunder empire deck, and 1 Oni Assassin deck.  At the end of this event the top 3 decks that emerged were all Katana World with ninjas taking 2nd and 3rd place while Oni Assassins took 1st place.  Here are the first and second place lists. Sadly we couldn't get the third place list which was a different take on the RPS Shadow Dive Ninjas.

Curse of Purgatory Jack

Hey Buddyfighters, Its been a while since our last article and so today we decided to do about an interesting new deck that was born from the all new Climax booster. The deck revolves around the card Purgatory Knights, Jackknife Dragon.

card

Purgatory Jack's effect fits the theme of the Purgatory Knights where you get to destroy one monster on your opponent's field each turn by destroying one of your own monsters. By controlling your opponent's field as well as gaining advantage from cards that you destroy will prove this deck's worth as a worthy contender in the Meta. The main star of this deck is Purgatory Jack and your main focus should be to get him out on your first turn so that you can start controlling the board with his effect. There are a few cards that complement Jack as well. Firstly we have the infamous Inferno Armour Dragon.

card

This card was one of the most feared card back then as it was able to clear two monsters and give you massive advantage. How this card works in this deck is you call him first and get a free destruction using his on call ability. Then you place Jack on top of him and you gain three souls in total. Jack's ability says that you have to destroy a monster on the field. Which means you can destroy Jack himself and use his soul guard to remain on the field while you destroy your opponent's card.

The next card you run is the base form of jack.

Jackknife Dragon

A staple in most Jack Knife decks as it can tutor for any Jack Knife monster you need. It allows your first turn Purgatory Jack plays to be pulled off consistently. If you have this and a Purgatory Jack in your hand, you can use the base Jack's ability to call out Jack Knife Burn Energy which gives you two free gauge and one more soul for Purgatory Jack.

Bloody Chainsaw Dragon

A card that many did not even know existed. Bloody Chainsaw Dragon complements Purgatory Jack's ability very well as you get a free draw when you destroy it. Unlike the Purgatory Knights from Darkness Dragon world, Bloody Chainsaw has two criticals which helps you deal more damage. Combine this with the Drago-Bond spell and you will be gaining two life while drawing one and also have him remain on the field to activate Jack's ability during your opponent's turn.

The defensive spells we play are you basic eight shields from Dragon world(Blue and Green) and Jackknife History which is a Dragoenergy exclusive for jackknife. It gives you additional 4000 power instead of the usual 3000. Its also has a secondary ability where you can put this card into the soul of a Jackknife monster. This allows you to use Jacks destruction ability one more time.

Jackknife History

One of the most powerful card in the deck is Double loss.

Double Loss

The way this card works allows you to cast it after you have resolved Jackknife's ability. So you get to destroy one of your own card and then destroy your opponent's monster and then cast this card immediately. By doing so you are able to clear the entire board forcing your opponent to end his turn of do a single attack with his weapon. This combo is especially deadly against the well know Meta decks that utilize alot of size 3 monsters with souls.

For the weapons we play Fifth Omni Dragon Fist, Roaring Fire.

Fifth Omni Dragon Fist, Roaring Flame

Jackknife has an amazing 6000 def and this card boosts it to 7000 which is the magic number in the meta for most decks. The weapon of choice is really upto what the player prefers. Roaring Fire is a great card if you cant decide on what to play.

To wrap up this article, these are some other cards that you can consider to add in to your deck

Mera Blade Dragon   Flarefang Dragon   Jackknife,

The two SD cards makes sure that you have a steady flow of gauge and hand cards so that you can constantly put pressure on the board with Jack. The Jackknife Drum is a very good finisher for the deck. Once your Purgatory Jack runs out of soul you can simply put this card on top of him and push for game. By the time you call this card, your opponent should have lost alot of field presence and hand advantage due to Purgatory Jack.

That will be the end of this article. We hope you found this to be interesting compared to other Meta decks, This is a very budget friendly deck as most of the foil cards are only double rares. If you would like to see a decklist of this deck then please pm us on our Facebook page or comment down below.

As always, Keep on Buddyfighting!
