Lost world for the current Meta

Hope everyone is taking precautions and staying safe from the COVID-19 Virus.

Today we are going to be discussing what is the optimal way to build your Lost World deck for this Meta.

So firstly the meta consists mainly of Time Dragons for the english format. The other represented decks are Ultimate Garga and Evil Demonic Dragons. We have to build the lost world in a way so that these decks can be dealt with in the situation where you decide to go to Lost World. There are two variants we are going to discuss.

1. Vanilla Denial Lost world

2. Ruined Gnitz Lost World

Vanilla Denial

The main concept of this build is to have monster that have no on attack skills or on call skills. The aim of the deck is to prevent opportunities for the opponent to dodge Dimension Denial.
Cards like Vanity Husk Destroyer are not played in this build as it has an on attack ability which the opponent can counter to. This will leave you no play timing to cast your Denials. This is a very consistent low risk deck but can sometimes lack damage output. The below cards are the core of this deck.

      

The reason why you run these monsters is because of their call costs which require cards from your drop zone. This is especially effective against Time Dragons as they cant return them back to your deck if the soul you choose were non Lost world cards. They also both have double attack and no on attack skills which makes Denial always online. This deck is weak when facing against damage reductions that last the entire turn as the opponent can respond to your calls. They are also weak against monster abilities that activate other than the field such as Time Dragons.


Ruined Gnitz

This is the high risk but extremely high reward deck. If this deck gets is pieces, almost no deck in the Meta is capable of stopping it. The main core of the deck is as below.

  

The game plan of this deck is to cast vile vortex and summon Gnitz and cast ruin's second effect on Gnitz. The in-built anti rest and anti damage reduction of Gnitz along with ruin makes this combo a sure kill against almost all decks. However, the main weakness of this deck is the inconsistency and over reliance on vile vortex to function. There are not many decks that are able to play this variant. Decks such as Dimension Dragons which has insane draw power before and after Lost are best suited for this build.

Along with the core below are few of the cards that are a must include for both decks.

   



Day of devastation and Vanity Zero Blazer compliments the Gnitz version very well as Gnitz can be destroyed when it activates its on place skill. So day of dev will protect you from destruction or ability null. With vile vortex removing card costs, Vanity Zero blazer becomes a free 10 damage impact. Lostless Heizer supplements both the decks as it has no on attack skill and also can be used with Vile vortex and Ruin for 9 damage. Both invasion and Dimension Draw are both self explanatory effects.

In conclusion, These two are the most popular builds among many. There are many other ways you can build the lost world deck to suit your playstyle. These two version are very effective for the current Meta and we recommend you to try them if you are confused on how to build the deck.
